If Money Talks, the 256 is singing. The future of North Alabama promises 6,000 new jobs and more than $4 billion in economic development. More than a dozen projects are in the works, shaping a bright outlook for the Huntsville area.
"In my dreams, I have a plan" isn't only for ABBA. The plan for the 256 has been well executed by Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle working with leaders from the surrounding area. Money, Money, Money is rolling in from companies like Facebook and Google. Toyota Mazda is leading the way with a $1.6 billion commitment.
By attracting top talent and supplying a solid workforce, the 256 has become a Money Machine. As James Taylor describes, money can have an immense influence. And major economic growth in the Huntsville area is sure to lead the way for the state of Alabama for decades to come.
Groundbreaking has become a regular occurrence over the last year. Toyota Mazda was the Gold Digger in November of last year, using an industrial robot armed with a shovel. Blue Origin wasn't far behind, breaking ground on its new facility in January.
Two developments in North Alabama have earned awards from Trade and Industry development. The Toyota Mazda assembly plant is the C.R.E.A.M. of the crop. The other is Facebook's $750 million data center that will create 100 new jobs.
Now, the 256 just hopes it's not Mo Money, Mo Problems. Residents hope the economic boom doesn't slow down their commute too much. The city is already getting ahead of the growth with major road projects on South Parkway, Cecil Ashburn, and Winchester Road, to name a few. A housing shortage is also a concern, with an already low inventory.
